We will respond in a reasonable timeframe and in the format that best meets your needs.

Our commitment

  • Eclat Medical Centre is committed to providing equitable, respectful, and dignified healthcare to all patients at Downtown Toronto, including those with disabilities.
  • We meet the standards set out in the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (IASR).
  • Accessibility is treated as an ongoing responsibility; we welcome feedback on where we can improve.

Physical accessibility at the clinic

  • Barrier-free entry with automatic or accessible doors and level or ramped access from designated parking.
  • Accessible washrooms and exam rooms sized to accommodate mobility devices.
  • Signage in clear, high-contrast type; staff available to guide patients who need wayfinding assistance.

Accessible customer service

  • Staff receive training on AODA customer service standards, disability awareness, and inclusive communication.
  • Patients are welcome to bring a support person to appointments; consent is obtained before any discussion of personal health information in their presence.
  • Service animals are welcome throughout the clinic, in line with Ontario law.

Assistive devices and formats

  • Personal assistive devices (mobility aids, hearing devices, communication tools) are welcome and accommodated in exam and waiting areas.
  • Documents such as consent forms, patient handouts, and this policy can be provided in large print, plain-text email, or other reasonable formats on request.
  • Please give us reasonable notice so we can prepare the alternative format that best meets your needs.

Website accessibility

  • Our website is built with responsive layouts, keyboard navigation, semantic HTML, and colour contrast that aim to meet WCAG 2.1 AA guidance.
  • We test with screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, and browser zoom, and improve pages when barriers are reported.
  • If you experience a barrier on any page, please contact us so we can address it as quickly as possible.

Communication supports

  • We can arrange for information to be read aloud, take extra time to explain care plans, or use plain language where medical terms may be a barrier.
  • Interpretation services can be arranged for languages other than English where feasible; please let us know in advance of your visit.
  • For patients who prefer to communicate in writing, our administration team can respond by secure email or through printed correspondence.

Temporary disruptions to accessible services

  • If an accessibility feature (such as an automatic door, elevator, or accessible washroom) is temporarily out of service, we will post a notice at the clinic entrance and, where appropriate, on our website.
  • The notice will include the reason for the disruption, the anticipated duration, and any alternative arrangements.
  • We will work to restore accessible service as quickly as possible.

Feedback and how to reach us

  • We welcome feedback on how well we are serving patients with disabilities, and use it to improve our services.
  • Feedback can be shared by phone at (416) 465-1515, by email at info.toronto@eclatmedical.ca, or in person at 1487 Gerrard St E, Toronto, ON.
  • We will respond to feedback within a reasonable timeframe and in the format the patient prefers.
